School Violence

I was reading one of the daily newspapers recently and came upon a comment made by our goodly Minister of Education with his plans on implementing the presence of soldiers in the schools to help with violence. What about violence among teachers would he be sending soldiers or would he split himself into several pieces to grace us with his presence?
I have been saying this ever since at our staff meetings but administrators have never taken heed even though we had several violent acts being done at our school among other felonies. Now the ministry sees it fit to implement the same idea.
I even brought to them that they should have time tabled religious education at the school nobody took me on.
Well i guess with the introduction of the laptops students would find time not to fight but blog, and wiki in their spare time as well.

This Reading Programme

Another semester of this programme is about to end and I have a few concerns that probably some intelligent person could answer.At the end of this programme would there be refresher programmes pertaining to the use of technologies since this is an ever evolving phenomenon, all the students in this class did not catch everything and also assessment using technology was not done. How can we teach using technology and are clueless about assessing using the same technology?
Does anyone has any information on assessment using technology? This is of interest to me and I do not want to look like a fool after assigning work to the students still have to use pen and paper to assess.
How possible would it be to assess using multiple intelligences using the computer. I am at a lost with this part of it. So for the time being am I suppose to just teach and no assessment.
Help is needed at least for me.

Students and Remembering

What is it that students cannot remember what is and was taught to them . Students would be taught repeatedly the same concept and when it is for revising "trouble" steps in. Is it the foods that they eat are having havoc on their brains. I really believes that sometimes. Diet really have an impact on learning. I remember there was a study done in Jamaica about marijuana and students remembering and it was proven that the children of parents who did marijuana were top of the class.Point for discussion (ha Ha).
Although I do advocate the use of multiple intelligences, this concept is relatively new so then may I ask what was around when I was going to school. Good topic for discussion

The End is Near

Finally I can see the light at the end of the tunnel with this programme. I have learnt a lot and did enjoy it as well. I do have some concerns though.
I think that I needed more time to practice these web 2.0 tools. I do not think that I have a real grip on it as yet for I am still not confident with all of them. The Wiki is still not very clear to me but with time it will be perfected. I did have problems with the blog but after figuring it out for myself it is common place now that I was not happy with the notion that the blogs must be spread out over a period of time. I want to blog and blog and blog, so I know with the wiki I would get there.
This technology is exciting and I cant wait to really show my students and even some of the teachers at the school of the new literacies we must use to enhance learning .

Inaccessibility of Books to do Assignment

I am here wondering how to get the information to complete the assignment for the 30th when there is just a handful of books on the topic in the library and these books are being passed within circles of friends and some students do not even have a chance to see not even the cover. This cannot be humane . I mean everybody wants to hand in an assignment that is worthy of good reading and marks as well.
Students we cannot be so selfish and intend to succeed then we wonder why we succeed here and our generations don't well it is the seeds that we sow. So to those who have the ICT books use and return so others can have an opportunity to catch a glimpse of even the cover.
To the lecturers, the library web site is not opening to access any literature so I really do not know how to access the material worthy of you all reading.
I know this may not be the place to write this but I sent messages to the lecturers and did not receive a response. So I blogged. Sorry if I offend anyone.

Blogging

Thank God is only Five more blogs I have to do . I mean I really like the blogosphere but I want my holidays too. I need some time to read and I am not getting the time.I am just crazy over the use of the internet and what it can offer.
Can you imagine that I was able to find out for myself how to hang references and was even more elated when I was able to show two other classmates how to do it.
The internet is like this you just have to click and reverse until you get a hang of what it should be. Shame to say that sometimes I am on line all day especially the social networks.
