I am patiently waiting for this laptop distribution to happen come on DR. Gopiesingh. Why the push back to September. you are keeping me back from extolling myself on the blogosphere lol. Teachers should also be assigned laptops cause I need one..
This can be helpful to me as well as the children because I would be opportuned to practise my web 2.0 tools with the students. How important and more knowledgeable I would become to know that I have to show them how to set up and make use of a blog.
I wonder though how many teachers would be able to access their teaching and students' learning through the use of the technology. ( The new technology mentor teacher at school yea yea)
The laptops would be taken home and this is what I am afraid of. The students now have a feasible excuse why no home work cannot be done. Don't the authorities think that it would be easier to steal to and from school . It would become just like the text book rental in school presently. Some of the books are sold as second hand texts. No checks and balances are in place. would these laptops be outfitted with earphone and the accessories needed to carry out the teaching of web 2.0 tools usage
I am very sleepy but I have to complete watching Tobago Heritage Operning night performance. I cannot find any books to do my assignment so I am watching my heritage
Ingrid you and I are on the same pathway of thought ....I wait with bated breath for the arrival of the laptops for students who did SEA(imagine that) I guess as teachers we should be able to BUY our own!!!
ReplyDeleteI want to know if the kids would be able to use the web 2.0 tools without the teacher getting a laptop too. How is the the teacher going to set up the tools and send the info to the students if they do not have a laptop. They did not think it out properly.
ReplyDeleteI think it was a political strategy. those computers would be useless to them if the teacher does not show them how to use them for learning. Remember these children can do all kinds of things on the computer( technology natives) so even though the Ministry configures it to certain things they could reverse it easily.
Our computers in school di not come facebook ready but the young teachers were able to get it so easily. When they realise it could have been done administration addressed it. Students in the library were logging on frequently.
What about when they carry it home there is a high risk of theft, spoiling, destroying etc.
What about the other students in the school . This would bring jealousy among other students and I foresee students being bullied into giving up the laptop. PROBLEM FOR THE MINISTER. I think I have to write him a letter and air those concerns.
